Tis the season for exhaustion,
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Shopping, baking, celebration,
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Sit me down at the kitchen table,
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
Forgot to send a card to dear aunt Mabel.
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
See the empty cart before us,
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
My christmas list is just enormous,
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Too much to do, too little time,
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
but skipping the holiday is out of line.
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Soon enough the panic passes,
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
And I enjoy cider in BIG glasses
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
All that matters is we're together,
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
Hoping next year is so much better.
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la

It's a wonderful world
There are times in your life when things seem to be going along kind of ho-hum and you think you are OK with everything and you are content. Then WHAM, something hits you that makes you realize that yes, you truly are content. You are filled with warm fuzzies. You feel TRUE peace. Everthing seems beautiful and right with the world.
Those moments tend to be fleeting and inspired by the simpliest of things. I had one of those moments yesterday. Actually, it was two moments. And to think, it came from something as simple as the sunset.
Late in the afternoon I walked past one of the large windows in my office that faces west and saw the lovely pale pinks, purples and blues the setting sun painted on the horizon. I had to stop a moment and drink it in. Just comment to myself on the beauty of it all. That was moment #1.
It was on my way home from work that this sunset, my sense of wonder and feeling of peace intensified.
For most of the drive home, which is directly west, I looked at this absolutely amazing sunset. The colors deepening as the evening wore on. The purples and pinks darkening as the night sky began to take over. Moment #2 happened. It struck me suddenly how beautiful the world truly is and how honored I am to be a part of the universe. I felt at one with everything.
Moments like these are rare and I treasure them. I only wish I'd had a camera to capture the moment. But, I guess that would make it less special. Cheapen the meaning somehow. Maybe it is more special to wait until the next moment, whether it be a sunset or something else, rather than stare at a copy of it.
Hopefully the memories of that beautiful sunset and true peace last until the next special moment. Thank you Mother Nature for a true gift this season.

My baby is one!!
Oh my that's weird to type. I'm so used to the "months" following a number when telling people how old my son is that it is alien for me to stop at the number. That's right. Jacob is one. As of 8:21pm last night.
It is truly amazing how many things have happened in the last year but how it seems like just yesterday I was in the hospital holding him and waiting for his dad to return to the hospital after some needed sleep.
We've had a year of learning to smile, laugh, roll, sit, crawl, stand and a year of cutting teeth, trying new foods, new sounds and just pure joy. What a full year it has been.
I sat and watched Jacob as he slept in my arms last night and my heart was so full of love. It amazed me how I could love someone so much and so fully and yet still have so much more to give. It amazed me how much he has grown in the last year and what an amazing boy he has become and the potential for the amazing man he will be.
My baby boy is one and it is only the beginning. Happy 1st birthday sunshine!!

Ah, it's good to be back..
I've missed my blogging. That strikes me as odd since it's so new to me and I don't really feel I have anything particularly important to say. I guess maybe I miss the therapy it provides. The ability to boast on my or my son's accomplishments, a chance to vent about stupid people or the latest aggrivating thing my husband has done (or more accurately what jobs he hasn't done lately) or the chance to just ramble about what is rattling around in my brain at the moment.
Right now I'm happy. Frazzled but happy. But then again, it's that time of year isn't it? A time to be joyous because the holidays are here but a time to feel like a chicken with it's head cut off because of all the things to do! I've been on vacation this last week and wouldn't you know, with all that time off from work I still only got 1/2 of what I wanted to do, done. It amazes me how you can start with a list of "to do" items, cross them off one by one and STILL end up with a growing list of chores. Must be some weird law of something (physics, nature, the universe), who knows. At least I have several things to look forward to.
My son's first birthday and his birthday party are this weekend, I'm finally getting my hair done, I don't have to go an hour away for Christmas Eve dinner this year, Christmas is next week (OH MY GOD!!!) and I have this coming Friday off.
Of course, Friday will be used to tackle more things on that "to do" list. Ah, life goes on.

Where's the purple damn it!!!!
I love purple. I want purple! I see green templates and blue templates and pink templates but where's my purple!?!?!?
I like green so I guess this will do. It's my second favorite color but I miss my purple. What's wrong with purple? *sigh*

Woo hoo, I'm a blogger!!!
Well, I've finally caved. Yup, I'm now a blogger. Don't know what's inspired me to do this really. I don't have a real story to tell or wisdom to impart. I guess it's therapeutic and fun. A modern version of the diary or journal I loved as a kid.
I don't know how often I'll be blogging or what I'll be blogging about but that's part of the fun I guess. One day it may be a vent about my husband, another it could be a celebration of my son's milestones or yet another it could be just my random rambling (hence the title of my blog).
Here I go a blogging.....
